Overview

This course is an examination of how robust Montessori adolescent communities prepare students to take their places in adult society, equipping students with skills for success in further learning, careers, and life. Content of the course includes Introduction to Maria Montessori and her educational philosophy, developmental needs and characteristics of adolescents, how and why key features of a Montessori secondary program work together to meet the needs of adolescents, curriculum areas, the role of the family, and the role of the teacher.

This online course is a great opportunity for untrained secondary teachers, prospective secondary Montessori teachers, administrators supervising secondary programs, Montessori teachers at other levels whose training did not include secondary, parents considering secondary Montessori for their own children, or parents whose children are currently attending secondary programs.

There are two sessions a year; one in January, one in June.
