Webster defines independence as being free from outside control. Being independent is an important part of
our world because there are times when others will not be available to help us make decisions, so we need to
be able to learn how to make decisions on our own. Webster also defines interdependence as two or more
things depending on each other. Interdependence is an important part of our world because we all rely on
each other at some point in our lives.
