Pipestone National Monument is sacred to most of the tribe of North America, Dakota, Lakota, and other tribes of Native Americans, and was a neutral territory where all Nations could quarry stone for ceremonial pipes. During this field experience you will learn about the Native Americans who inhabited this land, the issues between the settlers and the Native Americans, and experience the places held sacred by the Native Americans.
