In this cycle of study, students gain understanding of atmospheric processes that lead to weather and climate. In the long-term project, students research a specific type of natural “disaster” that affects human populations and infrastructure. Students explain the science behind the “disater” (i.e. hurrincanes, tornadoes), then identify, analyze and evaluate the current human efforts to avert reoccuring danger due to natural phenomena.
