Instructor’s Name: Mindy Mahar

This course is designed to expose students to the diversity of Edisto Island, SC. Students will explore the diversity of the culture, physical environment and life types. Students will explore their impact on the environment, both positive as well as negative. Students will work with park rangers to help repair dune fences, which affect rates of erosion on the island as well as with the monitoring of sea turtle nesting/hatching. Focus will be placed on the delicate balance between human interactions, leadership, cooperation and initiative.
