Tessa Benner, MEd, is the co-founder of the adolescent program at the Montessori School of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. She started her Montessori journey in 2011 when she enrolled in the CMSTEP program and fell in love with Maria Montessori’s philosophy. Alongside students, she helped build the middle school program’s micro-economy project: a full-service coffee shop. Tessa has guided middle school students in language arts, history, business education, and leads the Erdkinder program. She loves incorporating her passions of creative writing, video production, coffee, and hiking with students. She graduated in 2010 from Wright State University with an MEd in Middle Childhood Education and earned her AMS Secondary I-II credential in 2013. In 2020, she became a Montessori Model United Nations coordinator and has been working alongside students as they prepare for the annual conference. In 2022, she joined AMS’s Emerging Leaders Fellowship program with an aim to grow as a leader in her school and in the Montessori community.
